NEWY History app for iPhone and iPad

NEWY History celebrates Newcastle, Australias living histories by uncovering some of the city’s most amazing stories and cultural places with over 100 historic sites feature on the app.

Newcastle is a hidden gem with a rich human history dating back 50,000 years. The city has a tradition of work, play and progress at its heart and this app lets you learn about the city’s cultural and built environment.

Each site has historical information and links to sources associated with particular locations. You can navigate historic sites direct from a map, each site has a brief description of heritage significance, and a more comprehensive description is available if you are interested to find out more. A gallery of historic photographs is also available. The app is a collaboration between the National Trust of Australia (NSW) and The University of Newcastle Library.
